    World Cup fundae

Brazil did it in 1958 and for 44 long years they were the only nation with this unique achievement. In 2002 it was quite sure that someone would do it , and it was Brazil who did it again. This time around, in all probability, some team is going to achieve this record once again.
    What?

This one is from Avinash Papisetti aka papi

I have modified the question slightly.

How were these two gentlemen in the news during WW1

Ans. Quoting the only cracker of this question...blogbyp... (who again quotes wiki... )

    1.H.H.Asquith
    2.Lord Kitchener

    Quoting Wikipedia--
"At the outset of World War I, the Prime Minister, Asquith, quickly had Lord Kitchener appointed Secretary of State for War; Asquith had been filling the job himself as a stopgap following the resignation of Colonel Seeley over the Curragh Incident earlier in 1914, and Kitchener was by chance briefly in Britain on leave when war was declared. Against cabinet opinion, Kitchener correctly predicted a long war that would last at least three years, require huge new armies to defeat Germany, and suffer huge casualties before the end would come. Kitchener stated that the conflict would plumb the depths of manpower "to the last million."

Kitchener is also famous for his mass recruitment poster, more or less same as Uncle Sam's poster for recruitment drive.

    2points at stake!

    Ans. Elian Gonzalves.

The main picture shows Elián González, a 11-yr old Cuban boy who was the centre of controversy between govt. of Cuba and USA in year 2000.(Also, can be seen in the picture is Fidel Castro, though out of focus). Elián's mother tried to immigrate to USA illegally with him and her boyfriend. When she drowned, Elián was initially kept with his paternal relatives in Miami, who sought to keep him in the United States against his father's demands that González be returned to Cuba. After a district court's rulling that only Elián's father could petition for the asylum on the boy's behalf and not his extended relatives was upheld and when US Supreme court declined to hear the case, the boy was returned to his father in Cuba. Elián considered Fidel Castro as "not only as a friend but as a father".
The South Park Romania Episode has a scene in it where US forces enter Kenny's house to take him to his father alive, but accidently kill him.
