    Identify

In the month of February, this place was in the news in India... in a way. How?

Ans. Complete Answer by Bijeet -

The map shows Thuringia one of the states or "Launde" of Germany, it also lends its name to the city Thuringia.
    Connect: Bacillus Thuringiensis.
In February 2009 The Govt. of India said no to growing BT Brinjal.
    BT stands for Baccilus Thuringiensis.
The bacteria was discovered by japanese biologist Shigetane Ishiwata he named it Bacillus Sotto but was forgotten. The bacterium was rediscovered in 1911 by German biologist Ernst Berliner, who gave it its current name after the German town of Thuringia, his home town.

Pranav, Chithananda, Bijeet, Tania and Dolphin were the only ones to get this correct

Is it something to do with the BT Brinjal controversy in India? The map shows the Thuringen province of Germany. This is where probably the Bacillus thuringiensis was discovered!

The place is district of Thuringia in Germany.Christian democratic union and Social democratic party are in power.Recently some MPs from that state commented on the anti conversion law of Gujarat while on a visit to India. This led to hue and cry about external interference in India's internal matter.
